Happy Christmas!

We hope everyone had an amazing time over the Christmas period, whether you celebrate or not, we hope you had a great break and didn't get too stressed out!

If, like us, you are feeling like you've just been through a hurricane with all the eating, drinking, cooking, visiting etc, why not book yourself in a lovely 'post holiday' reflexology appointment or go all the way with a hot stone reflexology session.

Of course there's also the 'hands off' healing, reiki, done by Carolina; the very popular Shiatsu massage with Murray or an Indian Head Massage with Sarah.

Just call us on 01372 878606 to book in an appointment or pop into the store in The Ashley Centre, Epsom.

Whatever you choose, we'll make sure you have an incredibly relaxing time.

We're nearly there!

It's been so hectic here at Quest, we've barely had time to breath! We cannot wait for Christmas to be upon us for some well deserved sleeping and eating.

Today, we've had a great visit from Santa and his elves, who are also wandering the Ashley Centre with lots of sweets to give away!

Pop down for any last minute gifts for your friends and family :) We are open today, tomorrow and Christmas Eve!

Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop Therapy is not what you might think it is. It doesn't involve rain noises or rain water or anything like that.

Raindrop Therapy combines different elements of aromatherapy with reflexology to create a very relaxing and healing massage. It is aimed at bringing total balance, harmony, and wellness - mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Therapists use a particular sequence of nine essential oils (that have been clinically tested to have antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties) and drop them gently onto the spine and are massaged in using various techniques. The oils are dropped from about 6 inches above the back, creating a 'raindrop effect'. A hot compress is then applied which helps with oil absorption and muscle relaxation.

Raindrop Therapy

Main essential oils included are:

  • Rosewood
  • Blue tansy
  • Frankincense
  • Spruce (all of which help to eliminate negative thoughts and encourage inner balance)
  • Basil (to reduce fatigue)
  • Peppermint (for increasing mental acuity)

What is best, Soy or Paraffin?

I'm fairly certain that everyone loves a good candle. They can create wonderful atmospheres, gorgeous smells and can look very pretty. Candles are generally made from 'soy' wax or 'paraffin' wax.

Paraffin wax is classified as a 'chemical preservative'. It's made from synthetic materials and is essentially, a by-product of petroleum. However, it is not toxic although should not be ingested.

Soy wax was invented in the early 90's as an alternative to beeswax. Natural wax candles were in high demand, however beeswax was a lot more expensive than paraffin. Soy wax is cheaper than beeswax but just as natural. Soy wax is created from partially hydrogenated soy oil, coconut oil and palm oil. In candle form, it is usually mixed with a small portion of beeswax to create economical, natural wax candles

In Quest, we make it out policy to only sell natural beeswax or soy wax candles as we believe they are better for the environment and that they burn/smell more natural. Both waxes are suitable, safe and clean for candle making and both burn in the same manner. Soy candles can be seen as more economical as they do not use up petroleum which is a limited resource and they are completely biodegradable.

Of course, whatever wax you use is completely personal preference. There is no 'winner' or 'loser' in the wax wars just yet.

What do you think? What candles do you go for and why?
